Evaluation: What Have I Learnt Since The Preliminary Task To The Main Task (ABS Life To Authentic)
Looking at both of my magazines amazes me, on how realistic and shelf worthy they look, however there is a clear difference on the magazine I first produced. Just to clarify the magazine I first produced was the one of the right my school magazine. At first photoshop was a major program in which I struggled with constantly asking follow students who have used the program before, how to do this and how to do that. Then I made sure I put several hours finding out the right necessary tools needed to created an excellent magazine from scratch!
As you can see and make sure to look at my previous posts to see an enlarged version of both magazines, my school magazine is very basic but this is due to the fact I was very new to photoshop. This was also the preliminary task so it didn't have to be to such a standard in comparison to the main task. The mastheads which I got from dafont.com where both two iconic, eye catching fonts however the 'ABS Life' masthead was hardly edited by me as that exact font was hard to edit due to the eyes on the letters. Whilst the 'Authentic' masthead was edited heavily, to create that underground, real, hip hopy feel to it. So I applied much more time and learnt a vast amount of skills when it came to editing texts.
I learnt how to use a program which is used by the professionals of this industry 'Adobe InDesign', which is mind blowing. Due to the prelmimarny being just the contents and the front cover, I didn't have to use InDesign however for my main I had to create a double page spread which, would be very hard to create on Photoshop. InDesign is a fantastic program which was very hard to grasp at first, but after looking at video tutorials, sooner or later I started positioning my text in a way which fitted into my target audience. InDesign is a much more advance program as I could position my page numbers exactly the same width and height. Which helps to create my magazine to have a sense of professionalism towards it, instead of a whole lot of texts thrown around the double page spread.
I utilized my flat plan to create the magic for my music magazine instead of not using a flat plan at all when creating my school magazine. The sense of planning and researching was explored much more on tackling my main task so I learnt a lot about my target audience and learnt on what aspects I needed, on making the music magazine as real as it gets. I also learnt various types of camera shots and how they can influence the way someone looks. For example it made my model look very star studded like in which I was striving for so the music magazine seemed professional. I also learnt a lot of editing skills on photoshop when it came to images, making sure my imaged fitted in with every page I produced, and the whole outlook of the magazine.
When picking my model, I learnt that unlike the school magazine when I can just get anyone to portray a good student, I had to pick someone particular to represent the social group I was aiming the magazine at. In the school magazine the thought behind on what my model was wearing was very basic as the task wasn't that serious. However I had to make sure my music magazine cover model was wearing a specific outfit portraying that message of the whole magazine and theme which is 'Authnetic'. So I learnt to sell a magazine the artists on the front cover needs to sell it instead of the cover lines and the information inside to some degree.
So there an overall feel on what I learnt from the preliminary task to the main task, it was great producing both media products but I feel as if there clearly a major different between the two. I learnt a vast amount of skills in which I will use in the near future since these are skills that can gain big bucks! So I hope you enjoy looking at both my media products and stay real.

Evaluation: What Have You Learnt About Technologies From The Process Of Constructing This Product
What can I say, I never knew it was possible to actually create two magazine from scratch without any experience on either software. Media is a powerful thing, and helps to influence the way nearly every human see life, giving an outlook on life like never before. For me two create two media products which looks highly professional is an achievement ,which I will hold on for the rest of my life. I learnt a lot from both Adobe Photoshop & InDesign, however I personally learnt much more on InDesign. The reason why I learnt much more on InDesign because this software is used by many professionals and the things you can do to the layout of the text and images is amazing. It made sure my page numbers where precisely the same length and height which gives my magazine a professional look. A lot of other things help to fine edge my magazine to have that professional outlook. As can seen before if you look back at my previous post is a plan of my double page spread which I think I executed flawlessly, in my real production.Next is Photoshop, praise the lord for this piece of software, as the way in which you can manipulate pictures is mind blowing. When I was young I always heard about people photoshopping there pictures to make it a tad better, so it was very weird to actually use this program everyone was going on about. The things I learnt on photoshop are things which I will take on board throughout my lifetime, as I feel I'm nearly there to become a green belt at photoshop. The worlds mine when using photoshop as I learnt to put two pictures in one to create an authentic picture or multiplying a picture to the background so it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. Learnt how to manipulate texts to a major degree, as you can turn an ordinary text into a a hip hop/rap masthead which isn't easy but thanks to photoshop it has become so easy to do. Cutting out a person or object from a whole picture has also been a major skill I have taken on board. As you can accurately remove a person from a picture so you, don't have to worry about the background.
All the other technology during the process wasn't anything new to me, but these two bad boys has maid me open up to Adobe. It weird how these two programs can have so much power within the world we live in from top celebrities getting air brushed on photoshop, to major publishing companies using InDesign to construct international magazines. Therefore this is a round up of the skills I learnt, during the process on constructing my media product.
