Today in class we got a set of articles to look through and analyze, various amounts of language techniques which was within the articles. Analyzing both Ray J (RnB Singer) and the author vocabulary throughout the article. Straight away the article is introduced with an opinion summing up Ray J hectic year stating 'Last year Ray J was all the rage for the wrong reason' this already given the reader a perspective on the singer life. The use of opinion on Ray J life used by the author and even him self gives the reader a different insight on Ray J, maybe within a good light or on the other hand a bad light. Then various amount of adjectives are used to describe his topsy turvy behavior he has with the public and other celebrities for example; 'shocked' and 'hardcore'. Because of some much description this helps the reader to gain a companionship with Ray-J, as they even know how his acts may affect society. Another technique used is having some factual information within the article this helps to give a balance of opinionated and factual info, helping to give whoever reads the article a clear cut insight of the various antics which Ray J gets up to. Like 'I dated a woman in like the late 40's''. This also forms a personal identity to the reader due to the fact one can look at life and compare it to the crazy life Ray J has. Finally the technique I also identified used by Ray J and the author was the use of informal/slang. Both used the technique throughout the whole of the article, maybe used to help the target audience feel at home or understand the slang used, making the reader have a more fluent reading, instead of stopping and reading the selected passage again. Used by the author stating 'From kicking it with Kim to lunching and munching with singing diva Whitney'. This technique helps to give Ray-J life a cool urban twist to it, as instead of the author saying he was eating with Whitney Houston, he chooses to say he was 'lunching and munching', helping the readers to understand Ray-J is a hip and cool RnB singer. Ray-J also uses an informal tone stating 'I been known her since I was young'. This informal tone within the article is purely down to the way Ray-J speaks to whoever as he has been brought up that way uses that type of language.
